"Severe hailstorm batters Perth. The biggest storm to hit Perth in 50 years has caused massive destruction across the city.
Within a couple of hours of the storm passing through, more than 150,000 homes were without power, residents flooded Fire and Emergency Services helplines desperate for assistance, roads were underwater and traffic in some areas was at a standstill.
Almost 100 sets of traffic lights were out and planes were stranded at both Perth airports."
That's the view from my room window. The best part, I thought it was some mild rain and was pretty happy about it till I realised my bed was 1/4 wet. Puuurrrrrfffeeeccttttt!
Anyway, I guess I was lucky to ....
-have no class today
-be in one of the few houses in the whole of perth that is not flooded
-be in oblivion till my housemates banged on my door to ask me to see the double rainbows
The only thing that affected me today was probably the mere 15 minutes blackout that interrupted my cramming for tomorrow's test, making me use my limited time to help my housemate be her "light source" while she cook (oh yes! thank god water and gas is not link to electricity too!).
Well, im definitely enjoying the environment here! Come hail stones the size of golf balls, wind that can give me a 1980s hair makeover, sunshine that made me feel as if I'm a roasting human or people getting drunk and drive straight into a lamp post outside my house causing an immediate front page news death.
Indeed, its a very exciting 1 month of stay at my hostel.
Here's a vid showing how fantastically exciting a hail storm can be in Perth:
