I am
SOOOOOOOOO DISSAPOINTED with my visit to Uniqlo today.
Like really, really,
REALLY disappointed?
Due to my extreme enthusiasm despite my poor eyesight, I still trudged my way to Tampines (
that's a good 1 hour journey by the way!) just to visit Uniqlo's first store in Singapore. I was quite shocked to see throngs and throngs of people at Tampines (
yes, I seldom visit either ends of Singapore shopping delights. I can count the amount of visits with 1 hand). It's almost like little india on Saturdays or the great Robinson 90% sale? It's sooooo crowded and plus with my poor visibility, I can hardly spot Yating when I went to meet up with her there.
Anyway, back to my disappointment with Uniqlo, I queued approximately
20 MINUTES just to get into the store. Ok, so it's their first store and they have a LOT of hype but....
20 minutes? It's insane!!! Sample sale in Hong Kong don't even garner that much support despite them being so much more worth it than my visit to Uniqlo's today. So like every single dodo bird that tried entering Uniqlo today, I queued together with what seem like 1/10 of Tampines T1 crowd.

At first, Yating and I thought the queue was quite reasonable seeing the amount of hype on Uniqlo's first store. So this large amount of people queuing up? That's actually quite fine. We tried entertaining ourselves with a flyer my friend (
amazingly, I managed to bump into a school friend there!) was passing to the crowds, trying to increase the enthusiasm of being so near to entering Uniqlo's first Singapore store.....

At first I thought it would be quite a fast wait. Like its no big deal. What's a 10 minutes wait as compared to waiting for so long for Uniqlo to arrive in Singapore but I was
SO wrong! Apparently, my friend told me that the crowd has been like this
crazy since he started work at 6am today. That's like insane?

What's worse was that the queue do not only make a loop round the toilet but TWO loops instead! One round the toilet, the other round the emergency escape stairways! So it started with like this....

To this...

and this....

AND finally out from the emergency stairways and back to the first loop again ..
Before we can enter the shop.
Ta daaaaaaaa....!

At long last! I was actually still quite excited despite the
VERY long wait but to my huge dismay, the clothes were strewn all over like a lousy sale in a pasar malam! Everything looked
sooooo messy and unorganized. I can hardly bring myself to buy anything. To think that I was so determine to buy at least
ONE item as since I queued up for so friggin long but I just can't seem to bring myself to buy anything! Out of desperation, I nearly did a mistake of buying a pink brolly which I don't need. So Yating and I ended up leaving the store with a heavy heart after much discussion over the clothes. *sighs*
To be fair, for the reviews on Uniqlo's clothes batch in Singapore. It's like Giordano, Cotton On and a bit of Topshop combined. Prices aren't fantastic unless you like a good romp around the discount bin. Other than that, Their opening sales didn't exactly "wow" me. Work shirts at $49.90? Tanks at $14.90 - $29.90? Jeans at a discounted rate of $49.90? Not fantastically cheap and some items can be bought at your neighbourhood Giordano at cheaper rates. For a good buy, I would recommend the jeans and the blazers? They are made really well and is quite fashion forward. Other than that, I can't really say much.
Well, at least all was not lost. We had our share of Uniqlo's when we went to Hong Kong a few weeks back. The Uniqlo at Hong Kong have so much more variety! I left with a comforted heart that probably no one in Singapore would have the same batch of Unqlo's as I did. To at least make my very long trip worthwhile, I end up crashing Topshop for some retail therapy and got a this ultra cute colourblock toga tunic...!

At least I came home happy? Hahahahha....Till then!
PS: Sorry for the bad pictures, I forgot to bring my camera today so these pictures are actually from my handphone. >.<
